CASTELL DE ARO ENG





Aro1 Castle (in Catalan and officially, Castell-Platja d'Aro) 2 is a Spanish municipality in the county of Baix Empordà, consisting of Castillo de Aro, Playa de Aro and S'Agaró. It is located in the province of Girona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia.

The municipality is located on the Costa Brava. To the north Calonge, setting limits with Santa Cristina de Aro, south to San Feliu de Guíxols and east, with the coast. Castillo de Aro spans the eastern end of the Aro Valley, a narrow plain drained by the river Ridauras located between the Sierra de Cadiretes and the southern mountains of the massif of the Gavarres.

Playa de Aro (Platja d'Aro Catalan) was originally a small fishing village on the road from Palamós to San Feliu de Guixols located in a great beach 2 km. You are now tourist operations and is packed with hotels and other rooms for holiday use. It is one of the tourist destinations and third most important residence of the surrounding region which implies that in summer its inhabitants reaching 100,000, while in winter only about 19,000 residents.
